A closed-circuit television (CCTV) – compromising of video cameras to transmit signal to a limited set of monitors, is widely used for video surveillance and security purposes. In today’s era when safety and security is a major concern, the requirement for security and surveillance systems has remarkably gone up. CCTV systems accounts for 50% of the entire electronic security equipment market in India.
Surveillance is the monitoring of the behaviour/activities. Traditionally, it is done through CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) cameras.
The need for it in the field of examinations is much higher than earlier times for the following causes:
The invigilators often find it difficult to effectively monitor all candidates taking the exam in an examination hall. Due to this the candidates heavily indulge in malpractices like copying from chits and devices. There is no fool-proof system in place that identifies the offenders by checking the candidates from indulging in such activities.
There is no system in place to monitor or record the complete proceedings in an examination hall to ensure that the question papers are distributed fairly in a timely manner, the answer scripts are not tampered with, etc.
In case of any discrepancy or complaints against the examination-conducting organisations or in case of RTIs/PIL’s being issued, there is no mechanism to defend the organization and prove the falsity of the allegations.
The heightened competition in various recruitment and entrance exams has resulted in increased malpractices in the examination process. However, there is no solution which can ensure elimination of possible malpractices.
Innovatiview offers CCTV installation services on service model basis for use in examinations and allied events. Presence of CCTV cameras at centres has known to greatly reduce the occurrence of malpractices. Based on the client’s requirement, critical nature of the examination and budget constraints, we have classified our solution into two broad offerings.
In the first option (as compared to the second), the entire proceedings at the centre can be observed live on a display unit from a centralized location. This service is commonly employed by examination boards to monitor the complete examination process at various centres across the country thus, eliminating the need for flying squads to supervise centre operations cutting operational costs and bring transparency in the system. Recording of CCTV surveillance which is provided along with Live streaming can be used later for reviewing the process of the examination, in case of any discrepancies.
Innovatiview takes the entire responsibility of installing HD cameras at all examinations centres prior to the examination. The video footages are delivered after proper compilation after completion of examination. The whole process from installation of cameras to transfer of footage is made hassle-free and convenient for the exam-conducting body.
Prior to the examination, a site survey is done to analyse the requirement of the client. In case the client requires live-broadcast services, the network availability is factored in to calculate the viability of the project. CCTV cameras are then installed at strategic locations to minimise blind spots and manpower is employed accordingly to handle each centre.
During the examination, the CCTV surveillance system is set up at the headquarters of the client where they can view and monitor the entire preceding at all their centres.
After the examination, the equipment is uninstalled supervised by the executive allotted, the recordings are sorted out and then sent to the client.
The application of CCTV has proved to reap a lot of benefits in the field. Having cameras installed in strategic places comes in handy when you need to monitor actions and words of people or during an event. Below are a few benefits of installation of CCTV Cameras during examination:
CCTV cameras record all proceedings during an examination thus, capturing any unfair events that might otherwise go unnoticed by the invigilators.
Having CCTV surveillance in place decreases the requirement of invigilators, flying squads and similar man-power, which can be freed for other important tasks.
Offenders found indulging in fraudulent practices during the examination can be easily identified and appropriate action can be taken.
There are many legal rules and policies, with respect to infrastructure, man-power, etc., to be followed by organisations which conduct exams. CCTV recording can be used as an effective proof to showcase that the organisation was abiding by all the set standards while conducting an examination.
CCTV surveillance can also be used as evidence against allegations/ charges of mismanagement or unfair practices by external entities.
The CCTV surveillance also ensures that all processes and protocol are followed pre, during and post the examinations..
