In the age of digital technology, paper-less procedures are being adopted in most, if not all, fields to peruse, verify and collate documents of importance. On-screen marking is one method of doing this. It allows an individual to host copies of important documents for use in remote locations. This preserves the original documents and allows for various copies to be distrusted to different locations for different purposes without the manual efforts involved.
Manual processes and physical distances often pose a challenge in the examination industry, especially when it is about evaluation and marking of answer sheets. The need for on-screen marking solution in the field of examinations is thus being fast adopted and the need for it in current times is being greatly felt as compared to earlier times for the following causes:
Subjectivity and chance-factor involved in the evaluation process is a major challenge and have been much criticized in the past on several occasions.
Answer-scripts are traditionally transported from examination centres to a central office and then to different locations across the board’s purview for evaluation. This is a tedious, time-taking and expensive affair.
Instances of misplacing of answer-scripts or soiling scripts due to negligence by evaluators has also resulted in inequitable outcomes for the students in examinations.
Innovative View provides specialised services in facilitating on-screen marking to educational institutions. The technology and service makes the process of assessment more transparent and efficient
With associates in over 200 cities across the country, we have the capacity of executing orders with up to 1.5 crore answer-scripts within a 1 months’ timeline. Based on the time-frame of the client, Innovative View facilitates timely on-screen assessment services within the allotted premises. Our solutions are customized as per client’s requirement, who can specify if the scripts should be assessed by more than one individual and/or re-assessed in certain cases (for example: if the score allotted is over 90% of the total score).
Innovatiview discusses client’s requirements and makes relevant suggestions with regards to components and layout of answer scripts to facilitate seamless on-screen marking services.
On receipt of answer scripts at designated centres, Innovatiview shall scan and host such answer scripts on the servers.
Prior to evaluation, Innovatiview shall train the evaluators at each evaluation-centre about the software and on-screen evaluation mechanism and its trained executives shall supervise the entire on-screen evaluation process. In case re-evaluation of particular answer sheets are required (as per specified conditions); the same shall be informed to head invigilators.
Post completion of the evaluation process, Innovatiview shall generate scores of each candidate against his/her details. It can also generate individual score cards, if so required by the client.
The on-screen marking process is being rapidly adopted in the examination process due to the following benefits:
Evaluations although manual, are more efficient and accurate when done through on-screen marking, as evaluators are aware of being monitored and their evaluation being reviewed for errors.
Significant Reduction in costs and time involved in logistics; distributing answer scripts to centres, and subsequently repacking of answer scripts for further processing.
The risk of misplacing answer-scripts in transit is reduced by this service. It also serves as a back-up database that can be provided in case of re-evaluations.
The on-screen marking solutions allow senior examiners to review the answer scripts. In case the examiner leaves any questions left unmarked or unassisted, the script cannot be submitted to the head examiner.
Since the process in conducted online, it enables real-time and continual monitoring of marking progress for the examination conducting bodies.
On-screen marking leads to greater accuracy as senior examiners can assign answer scripts to two different examiners for dial marking.
